I Want My Body Back! Loosing The Pregnancy Weight

How changing a few simple things can help you loose the baby weight

Your pregnancy weight may have taken nine months to put on, but it seems to be taking much longer than that to take off.

While it may seem like your motivation and willpower are zapped, you do have what it takes to lose weight. After all, if you can get through the grueling pain of labor and childbirth, you can certainly get your body back in shape!

First step is your thoughts.

Don’t compare yourself to others, thats the beauty in life we are each different, in body types, metabolism and more.   In fact, most women don’t go from birth to their tight jean’s right away or in a matter of weeks.  In reality a vast majority of women have to work very hard at getting their weight back to being even within eye-shot of their pre-pregnancy weight.

Remember the body mind connection, if you are stressed out your body tends to self defend following your emotional health so changing your internal dialog will help you stay positive and on your path to feeling healthy and loosing weight.

The other thing is,  saying ” I cant have that muffin” what does your will power say?  You got it, it hears just the ” muffin” part not the can’t, don’t or should not.

Your body is in recovery, you just accomplished one of life’s miracles  a baby!  So, give your self some space to heal and recover.

Don’t get sidetracked  by the lure of a fad diet that proclaim guaranteed quick results or the “low fat” “diet” labels.

This is exactly opposite of what you need and at first you will loose weight but in the end you’ll be harming your body or possibly gaining all the weight  back and then some.

Low fat or diet labels, read beyond the packaging. Often they have replaced the fat ingredients with more salt or sugar which in the end revs up your sweet and salty cravings and slows down your weight loss.

Feed your body with whole nutrient rich, unprocessed foods at regular intervals -  like 5 small meals. This is good for your body and getting your metabolism back on track.

If you think of your metabolism like logs on a fire, if  you let it burn down to embers – building it back up takes a lot of effort and is less efficient.  If you feed the fire regularly, the fire keeps burning brightly and consistently. Well your metabolism works the same way.  Starve it, and it dies down and works sluggishly, keep it stoked with quality foods and nutrients and it burns consistently.

Getting on track is good for you but also helps you to set a good example for your baby.

Healthy eating and exercise habits are developed very early in a child’s life.  Studies show that children whose parents have poor eating habits and lead a sedentary lifestyle inevitably follow in the parents’ footsteps.  We all want what is best for our children right?

As your child walks through the various stages of growth and development, he will mimic your behaviors, echo your words, and learn his eating and exercise habits from you.  So lets give them the best foot forward to healthy living and eating.

Eat Consciously

Ask yourself, am I hungry, or am I stressed, tired ….

We all like convenience especially since new to toddler its exhausting and time consuming so keep healthy “quick grab” snacks on hand.
Tip: eat what your baby eats,  like our HiPP Organic snacks & fruit pots  – its a whole food, organic and without all the additives and actually tasty.

Ask yourself if there is a better choice you could be making. You can avoid tempting your sweet tooth or enjoying other mindless snacking by making smart choices at the grocery store. Often the rule of thumb is, shop the parimater of the store as most groceries tend to put the cheaper, processed foods in the middle of the store with the whole foods on the outer edges.

Would your grandmother recognize the ingredients? If you cant pronounce them or the answer is no than don’t buy it.

Protiens like nuts, sweet things like fruits in moderation will satisfy you and help you set a good snacking example for your baby.

Watch your carbs, try a rice based pasta, brown rice, even a little lemon in your H20 it  helps your metabolism.
You’ll be surprised that by  avoiding  sugar, lowering salt and replacing carbohydrate favorites such as white bread, useing healthy fats like olive  & grape seed oils and using fruit purays in baking for replacement of fats, can help you on your fitness and weight loss goals and still allow you to enjoy some pretty yummy eats.

Walk It Out.

You don’t need to hit the streets and run ten miles. Simply strolling through the park pushing your baby in a stroller will do wonders for you. When you walk 20 to 30 minutes per day, along with your healthier diet, the pounds will drop more quickly. Your baby will probably love getting some fresh air outdoors. And while you may feel completely exhausted now, daily exercise can actually make you feel more energized.

When You’re Ready. Once you start seeing the pounds come off through small changes to your exercise and eating habits, you will find the internal motivation to continue on and make increasing changes to improve your health.

We think the word exercise should just be play, don’t you?

  • Remember what you liked to do as a kid, was it ride a bike, did  you like to dance or play a sport, or swim?  Try something old that you loved to do you just might rediscover a long lost love of the game or activity at the same time as getting fit.
  • There are countless fitness videos, tv shows and classes now to either do at home, in the park or at the gym.  Be adventurous and mix it up. Changing up your fitness routine, keeps muscle memory at bay and keeps you burning calories and helps to keep you motivated with new and fun activities.
  • Get out and mingle with mom & me stroller walking groups, its fun, fit and social too.  If you don’t have one by where you live, organize one you’ll be glad that you did. You can walk your neighborhood or meet up at interesting locations soon you will be getting fit, but also building a great mom network and play group of friends for your baby.  Best yet, it does not feel like your exercising.

Make an effort to make a small but lasting change periodically to continuously improve your eating and exercise habits.

With each and every change you make to your regular eating and exercise habits, you will notice additional results in your body.
The key is to make changes you can live with,  change habits that may be holding you back  with new better choice habits  and soon enough, you will be feeling great about the way you look!
